Discover YOUR True Nature.

Land Trusts, Land Trust Days, and Rhode Island’s Special Places

Calling all Rhode Islanders! That’s right, we said all Rhode Islanders. Whether you are already a nature guru or simply curious to explore your greater backyard, Land Trust Days has something for everyone! This year marks Rhode Island’s 4th Annual Land Trust Days, sponsored by the Rhode Island Land Trust Council.

But first — what exactly is a “land trust?”

Land trusts are non-profit  organizations formed by people who want  to protect open spaces, natural areas, scenic character, watersheds, drinking water sources, farmland, forests, historic sites, and shorelines that define the character of their community and our state. Every land trust is different and reflects the uniqueness and priorities of their community. Land trusts are protecting some of the best places in Rhode Island.  These places are hidden gems. Collectively, land trusts are preserving these special places in our communities so that our heritage remains as our legacy for future generations.  Today, Rhode Island is home to over 45 land trusts!

Since every land trust is different, so is every Land Trust Days event! The diversity of events offered is truly what makes Land Trust Days so special. This year’s Land Trust Days feature a multitude of events and activities ranging from guided hikes and star gazing to hot dog roasts and family festivals. Come discover the hidden gems of Rhode Island at a Land Trust Days event near you and discover YOUR true nature!
