Avondale Farm Preserve in Westerly is a beautiful haven for butterflies, birds, and bats. Bird-watchers have called this preserve a hot spot for many species of birds. The hike is an easy, flat walk through a coastal preserve with a variety of native grasses and late summer wildflowers. All ages are welcome! This event is free of charge.
For all hikes be sure to wear shoes appropriate for natural conditions that may include rocks, roots, and mud along the paths. In warmer months, come prepared with insect repellent for your comfort.
Registration is not necessary, but please call walk leader Donna (203-470-4566) if you’re running late so she knows to wait for you! If the weather is questionable, please contact Donna for cancellation notification.
Directions: Avondale Farm Preserve is on Quail Run in Westerly. Park at the preserve’s Quail Run entrance, off Watch Hill Road (Rte. 1A).
