Land Trust Days is the annual two-month celebration of the wonderful open spaces across Rhode Island that land trusts are protecting. Rhode Island is home to over 50 land trusts – community-based organizations with a mission to preserve scenic open spaces, farms, forests, historic sites, and watersheds that keep us healthy, protect wildlife habitat and drinking water supplies, and provide local food and beautiful places for recreation. Land trusts demonstrate their commitment to healthy “whole” communities by providing green space where people can get outdoors, unwind, enjoy fresh air and renew their spirit in nature.
Land Trust Days is hosted by the Rhode Island Land Trust Council, the state-wide coalition of land trusts in the state. Land Trust Days activities are the perfect opportunity for you, your family, and your friends – to Discover Your True Nature by exploring the protected open spaces in your community. Many land trusts host activities and special events for everyone, young and old to enjoy. These activities include guided hikes, hot dog roasts, community festivals, full moon walks, farm tours and a whole lot more.
