** Due to expected rain, this event has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, September 21 – same time (9-11am), same place (95 Middlebridge Road). Hope to see you there! **
Join the Narrow River Land Trust and David Gregg, director of the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, for a quick bagel breakfast followed by an insect adventure at Garrison House Acres!
Did You Know: the insects of planet earth weigh at least 1.1 trillion pounds – while humans add up to a mere 632 billion pounds. In Rhode Island, there should be at least 15,000 species of insects. However, recent studies show that insects are declining around the globe. Don’t you think it’s time to start paying attention to insects?
We will use traps and nets to see what kind of insect activity there is in a coastal grassland habitat. Wear close-toed shoes, socks, and long pants because poison ivy and ticks are part of our biodiversity, too!
*Please RSVP ahead of time to office@narrowriverlandtrust.org*
In the event of bad weather, participants will be emailed with any changes to the event. The rain date is the following day, September 8 from 9-11am.
