Have you ever seen birds being banded? Here’s your chance! Learn about migratory bird research at this special Walk & Talk with the Aquidneck Land Trust. Aquidneck Land Trust’s former Board Chair and Salve Regina professor Jim Chace will lead this free tour and bird banding demonstration at Bailey Brook in Middletown. The walk will meet at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 14, at the Middletown Police Station (123 Valley Road, Middletown) and then walk over together to the mobile bird banding station and see what Jim catches!
Parking is limited so please carpool if possible. Bailey Brook is a primary source of drinking water for Middletown and Newport residents, and serves as habitat for several migratory bird species. The Land Trust partnered with the Town of Middletown to preserve the parcel of land buffering Bailey Brook.
