The East Providence Conservation Commission invites you to join their annual Coastal Coves Walk on August 11. The walk starts at the Boyden Heights Conservation Area (on Boyden Boulevard, East Providence). The walk includes a short stroll through the wooded trails of the conservation area and a stop at a dock that stretches into one of the coves before following the East Bay Bike Path to visit the remainder of the coves. All ages are welcome. Please be comfortable walking/hiking 2 to 3 miles on both trails and asphalt surfaces. Bug spray and sunscreen recommended, along with plenty of water if it is a hot day. There are no restrooms. Leashed dogs welcome. This will be a casual paced walk, stopping often for photo opportunities. The coves generally are a haven for several species of birds including great blue herons and egrets.
There is no fee or registration required for this event, however, the walk will depart at 9 am sharp. The walk will be canceled in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorm.
