Please register here. \nExplore & celebrate the remarkable journey of migratory birds in the Napatree Point Conservation Area! \nCelebrate World Migratory Bird Day with Napatree Science Advisor\, Dr. Peter Paton\, on a 2-mile birding walk along Little Narragansett Bay. As we explore the diverse habitats of Napatree Point Conservation Area\, we’ll search for the many resident and migratory bird species that rely on this remarkable coastal landscape. \nAlong the way\, we’ll use binoculars and spotting scopes to get a closer look at birds in flight and along the shoreline. Our Napatree Naturalists & Science Advisors will share their knowledge while encouraging participants to share their own observations and appreciation for the birds around us. \nWe welcome both new and experienced birders to join us! \nAny individual 18 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. \nA limited number of binoculars will be available for participants. Binoculars generously donated by ParsonsKellog. \nThis program is approximately 90 minutes\, allowing participants to take advantage of the free parking along Bay Street. \nWeather: Rain will cancel the program. Please register here. \nDive Into Little Narragansett Bay: A Marine Life & Watershed Adventure! \nJoin Napatree Science Advisors and Naturalists for an exciting 2-mile exploration of Little Narragansett Bay! Discover the fascinating connections between the Bay\, Rhode Island’s coastal ecosystems\, surrounding watershed\, and the Napatree Point Conservation Area. \nAlong the way\, we’ll uncover the vital role Little Narragansett Bay plays in supporting marine life and explore how water\, wildlife\, and habitats are all connected. You’ll learn about the species that call these waters home and the importance of protecting this coastal ecosystem. \nThe walk will include a seine net pull\, where our staff will carefully collect marine life from the bay using a 20-foot seine net for an up-close experience. \nOpen to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nThis program is designed to last 90 minutes so participants can use the free parking along Bay Street. \nThis program will start at 9:00 AM and meet at The Napatree Point Conservation Area entrance. \nRegistration is required. \nLight rain will not cancel these events\, but a downpour will. Register here. \nJoin The Watch Hill Conservancy for a sunset stroll in The Napatree Point Conservation Area! \nCelebrate the beauty of late summer with an unforgettable evening in the Napatree Point Conservation Area! Join us for a guided 2-mile sunset walk under the last full moon of the summer solstice. \nAs the sun sets over Little Narragansett Bay\, we’ll explore the wonder of Napatree’s nightlife that becomes active at dusk. During the walk\, we will keep an eye out for a variety of nocturnal and coastal wildlife\, including: \nBats\nNight Herons\nDogfish\nHorseshoe Crabs\nWhelks\nRabbits\nMinks\nSkunks\nDeer\nOpossum\nMigratory Birds \nOur Science Advisors and Napatree Naturalists will provide a short lecture on the migratory birds & bat activity in the Napatree Point Conservation Area — participants will even get to experience using a bat call detector! \nAs darkness falls\, we’ll gather to observe the full moon through a spotting scope. \nLight snacks and beverages will be provided! \nEvent Details \nTime: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM\nDistance: Approximately 2 miles (moderate walking on sand and uneven terrain)\nWhat to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes\, weather-appropriate clothing\, insect repellent\, water. \nPlease utilize the free parking along Bay Street as the parking limitations are not in effect at the time of this program. \nRain will cancel these events.
