“Discover Your True Nature” during Land Trust Days – a two month celebration of Rhode Island’s land trusts and open spaces.
[Middletown, RI] – The Rhode Island Land Trust Council (the Council), in partnership with Aquidneck Island Land Trust, is kicking off the 15th annual Land Trust Days with an easy guided group walk and s’mores. The event will take place on Friday, August 28, from 3 pm – 5 pm in Middletown, RI. Registration on the Land Trust Days MeetUp is required.
Land Trust Days is a two-month celebration highlighting the important work of Rhode Island’s 50 land trusts. From August 28 through October 25, the Council will coordinate more than 70 outdoor events across the state, including guided walks, full moon hikes, wildlife demonstrations, birdwatching, kayaking adventures, kite flying, and more.
The walk includes a chance to find Acorn, one of the #RIWalksChallenge “Creatures,” or metal sculptures that are designed in the shape of local flora. The #RIWalksChallenge is a statewide scavenger hunt of these unique Creatures that can be found on land trust trails from Cumberland to Charlestown. Participants who collect all 34 Creatures are eligible for special prizes and bragging rights. This kickoff hike is a perfect way to start (or continue) your #RIWalksChallenge adventure!
