The Rhode Island Land Trust Council hosted the first Municipal Land Trust Symposium on Saturday, May 3rd in Warwick. The group heard from two presenters, Ian Ridlon of The Trust on Risk Management, and Tom Rogers of RILTC on Public Trust. Their powerpoint presentations can be viewed here.
There was also a series of lightning presentations highlighting successful partnerships:
- Scott Ruhren (Audubon Society of RI) shared info about ASRI’s Youth Conservation League, which provides a low-cost option to land trusts interested in trail work.
- Rob Bower (Scituate Land Trust) discussed the Land Trust’s partnership with the town Conservation Commission.
- Tony Tavares (West Greenwich Land Trust) and Marc Tremblay (RIFCO) talked about their work together to actively manage a WGLT property.
- Kathan Teepe (Hopkinton Land Trust) shared information about Hopkinton’s Friends of the Hopkinton Land Trust group, which is able to fundraise on the Land Trust’s behalf.
